Our Story. Our Vision.
Your Space in the Wild.
about us
WILD AT HEART.
Woods & Wild wasn’t born from a business plan—it grew from a life lived outdoors. Our vision is to create a space where you can truly reconnect with nature and gain the practical wilderness skills that lead to genuine self-reliance.
After years of traveling the world and learning the art of living simply, we settled in the forests of Jämtland, just an hour from Östersund, to build something honest. For us, the wilderness isn't a place to "conquer." It’s a place to understand. We believe that by mastering the basics—the fire, the tools, the navigation—you don’t just learn about nature; you learn about your own resilience.
OUR APPROACH: MORE THAN JUST BUSHCRAFT
Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned outdoor lover, we provide a safe, respectful, and judgment-free environment. To ensure high quality and a personal atmosphere, we intentionally work in small groups. This allows us to focus on your individual progress and create a real, sustainable connection to the outdoors—far away from the noise of everyday life.
WHO WE ARE
Behind Woods & Wild is our shared passion for the North and the conviction that life in the wild offers the most powerful insights. We combine professional outdoor guiding with social management and technical expertise to create an experience that lasts long after you leave the woods.
Anyone ready to leave the noise behind and focus on the essentials is welcome at our campfire.

Grown in the Mountains, Rooted in the North.
I grew up in the Bavarian Alps, a true child of the mountains. My childhood was spent outdoors—between haystacks, bruised knees, skiing in winter, and summers by the lake. Nature has always been the place where I felt most at home.
My professional path, however, initially led me in a different direction. After graduating with a B.A. in Social Management, I worked in Human Resources (HR) at BMW. I know the world of corporate structures, constant deadlines, and the feeling of losing focus in the digital noise. My later work as a content creator also showed me firsthand how difficult it can be to disconnect and truly arrive in the moment.
In 2020, I traded the security of corporate life in Munich for freedom. After three years of traveling full-time through 44 countries in my classic camper van, I finally found my peace in the absolute silence of Northern Sweden.
Today, I combine my academic background in psychology and group dynamics with my qualification as a certified Outdoor- Guide (GER). At Woods & Wild, it’s not about "higher, faster, further" or pushing past your breaking point. I invite you to leave the pressure to perform behind and find genuine, inner calm through the craft of the woods.
Living in the heart of Jämtland, I am currently immersing myself in the Swedish language. While I’m making progress, my Swedish is still a 'work in progress'. To ensure we understand each other perfectly, I conduct my courses in English. However, if you are joining as a German-speaking group, I am more than happy to hold the session in German, too

The Foundation of our Base.
Flo is the organizational backbone of Woods & Wild. As a Mechanical Engineer with years of experience—including working at the Watzmannhaus in the high Alps and as a climbing park guide—he brings deep practical knowledge and a calm presence to the team.
Flo manages everything behind the scenes, from transport and supplies to our back-office. As a co-host for our Day Adventures and Digital Detox sessions, he ensures the logistical framework is perfect so you can focus entirely on your experience. For our Women and FLINTA workshops, Flo intentionally remains in the background to ensure a dedicated safe space, focusing on the infrastructure that keeps our remote base running smoothly.
About your FLINTA co-Host
meet Vanessa
Your Host for Presence & Focus
We are thrilled to have Vanessa on board for our Women & FLINTA adventures. As our dedicated Co-Host, she brings a calm, grounding energy that helps our participants shift their focus from the noise of everyday life to the clarity of the woods.
Drawing from her experience in hosting women's retreats and her background in coaching and nature spirituality, Vanessa ensures a supportive environment where you can truly arrive. As our Hosting Support, she focuses on the group’s well-being and the camp’s atmosphere, offering impulses like guided morning meditations to help you find your own pace in nature. Her deep connection to the North is rooted in a simple mission: to help you build a relationship with the wilderness based on presence and respect. As our Visual Storyteller, she discreetly captures the highlights of your journey, giving you the freedom to put your phone aside and stay fully present in the moment.
Our Philosophy
GROUNDED. HONEST. REAL.
Most of us know the feeling of having to "function" constantly. Faster, more efficient, better. This pressure often follows us even into our free time. Sadly, the outdoor world is no exception: it’s often about the most expensive gear, the toughest training, or the next extreme adventure.
At Woods & Wild, we choose a different path.
We don’t believe that nature is something to be "conquered." We believe it is a place where you can finally just be yourself. The wilderness doesn’t care if you work for a major corporation or if you’re currently reshuffling your life. It doesn't care how you look or whether you think you are "tough enough."
-
Craft over Ego: We focus on genuine knowledge. How to build a fire, how to handle a knife safely, or how to get a good night's sleep outdoors. These aren’t competitions; they are practical skills that build a deep, quiet sense of self-reliance.
-
Clarity over Noise: We aren’t here for a grand spiritual journey. We are here because it feels good to take your eyes off the screen and focus on something tangible. The wood, the wind, the water—that is reality in its purest form.
-
Connection over Crowd: We believe that true experiences need space. That’s why we intentionally keep our groups small, with no more than 4 to 10 participants. This ensures a quiet, personal atmosphere where every voice is heard and no one is just a number in the crowd.
-
Come as you are: We’re moving past the cliché that you have to be a "survival expert" to belong outdoors. Whether in our mixed groups or our dedicated Women and FLINTA formats: there is no judgment and no comparison. We explore nature with curiosity instead of elbows.
We aren't looking to climb Mount Everest. We want to return to the joy we had as children: dirty hands, fresh air, and the feeling of being exactly where we belong.
No records. No pressure. Just the woods.
